What is SWAG?

Picture
SWAG (Screen Women's Action Group) is committed to changing the culture that enables sexual harassment, discrimination and other abuses of power over women in the screen industry. We are collecting ideas and advocating for changes that will promote respect, representation and professionalism in our workplaces.

SWAG was formed in early 2018 in response to the international #MeToo movement. Our grassroots forums and industry survey confirmed that there is a need for co-ordinated, specific and effective action on this front in New Zealand.

Specifically we are working towards an industry-wide sexual harassment policy, an independent process for disclosures and complaints of sexual harassment and protocols around the producing of intimate and sexual material.

SWAG is working in consultation with all screen sector bodies, relevant government departments, and sexual violence organisations. We have partnered with Screensafe to roll out forthcoming new Health and Safety guidelines for ending sexual harassment in our workplaces.
