What Does The Future
Look Like?

SWAG was established because we believe the New Zealand screen industry can and must be a safe and supportive workplace for everybody - female, male, and gender fluid, of every ethnicity and sexuality, no matter what your role on a production. We are working alongside ScreenSafe and all industry Guilds towards this vision. Click here to see what we have planned.

What is Sexual Harassment?

The Human Rights Act (NZ, 1993) defines sexual harassment as "any unwelcome or offensive sexual behaviour that is repeated, or is serious enough to have a harmful effect, or which contains an implied or overt promise of preferential treatment or an implied or overt threat of detrimental treatment." Sexual Harassment can involve spoken or written material, images, digital material or a physical act.  Sexual Harassment can happen to anyone, of any gender. Statistically, women are at highest risk.

Some statistics worth talking about

In 2018, SWAG undertook a initial voluntary survey of screen industry professionals in New Zealand to get an overview of the current situation when it comes to sexual harassment in our workplace. These are some of the figures that were revealed in the response.
